Suggested charter for breeders

As breeders of German Shepherd Dogs we will not breed from dogs that have extremely angulated hind quarters, or from dogs that have roach or sway backs.

We will breed for sound temperament, intelligence and health, having dogs tested for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, and blood tested to screen for genetic problems before using them as breeding dogs. We will not use a monorchid dog at stud.

We will consider breeding with dogs of all colours and coat lengths without prejudice, concentrating on more important features such as sound structure, health, temperament and intelligence.

We will not cull any puppies unless they are born with a serious health abnormality. We will not cull on the basis of colour, coat length or litter size.

Our puppies will be sold with a contract of care, and we will endeavour to see that all puppies are placed in a caring and responsible home with a person, or persons, who understand how to care for a German Shepherd puppy. We will not sell puppies to a home where they will be left alone all day in a back yard.

Our pups will be wormed, vaccinated and vet-checked before sale.

Buyers of our  puppies must not breed with, sell or dispose of puppies without our written permission. Puppies, which are being mistreated or neglected will be returned to the breeder to be re-homed.

We will not sell, nor allow to be sold, puppies or adult dogs to countries where dogs are sold at meat markets.
